Invitation to bring in your One Health expertise! –Skin NTDs One Health Scoping Review–

A systematic evidence synthesis on skin neglected tropical diseases across human health, animal reservoirs, and environmental drivers.

The WHO Skin NTD Working Group on One Health brings together global experts to systematically map the evidence on skin neglected tropical diseases from a One Health perspective.

The group is actively seeking contributions from researchers and specialists conducting a scoping literature review. This review explores the connections between human health and animal and environmental disease reservoirs to inform disease control strategies and research priorities. In particular, support is sought for the data extraction process from the identified papers.

Join the team to assure essential quality and breadth to this important work! Significant contributions—following the CRediT criteria—will be considered for co-authorship.

Deadline to sign up 01.05.2026

Why It Matters

Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases affect over 1.5 billion people globally yet remain underfunded and under-researched. Understanding their transmission across human populations in relation to animal and environmental reservoir systems is critical for effective and sustainable control strategies.

Why Your Contribution is Needed

Your expertise helps identify evidence gaps and synthesize knowledge on disease ecology. Contributors will be guided to review peer-reviewed literature, extract structured data on transmission pathways and risk factors, and help build consensus around research priorities for policymakers.

Who Should Apply

There is no specific level of qualification required but contributors should have a basic understanding of infectious disease research and scientific literature.
